Dr Jay McGavigan is a Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and an experienced Obstetric and Gynaecological Sonologist with particular expertise in complex obstetrics, fertility care, reproductive ultrasound, and early pregnancy management.
A graduate of Monash University in 1995, she undertook advanced specialist training in both the United Kingdom and Australia, gaining qualifications in obstetrics and gynaecology, diagnostic ultrasonography, and completing a Doctorate through clinical research.
Dr McGavigan returned to Australia in 2007 to take up an appointment at Flinders Medical Centre, where she served as a Senior Obstetric and Gynaecology Consultant and Lead Clinician of the Materno-Fetal Medicine Service until 2024. She joined Flinders Fertility in 2024, bringing extensive experience in complex reproductive care and women’s imaging.
She also holds a senior appointment with South Australian Medical Imaging as a Senior Obstetric and Gynaecological Sonologist, providing advanced ultrasound reporting, fetal and gynaecological imaging, and specialised diagnostic procedures across the public health system. In private practice, Dr McGavigan consults at Adelaide Women’s Imaging, where she performs advanced obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound, fertility imaging, and diagnostic procedures.
Her clinical interests include fertility assessment, investigation of unexplained infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, endometriosis assessment and mapping, reproductive counselling, prenatal diagnosis, and the use of ultrasound to guide diagnosis and treatment. She is known for combining technical expertise with clear communication and compassionate, personalised care.
